  • Apply ice on the mouthy ulcers for pain relief
  • Place a damp tea bag on your mouth ulcer

Tips to relieve discomfort from mouth ulcers

  • Hard brittle brush may damage the lining the inner mouth and cause further damage to the open sores. So, use a soft toothbrush to brush your teeth.
  • Hard, sharp, spicy and acidic foods and drinks may damage the mucosal lining surrounding the ulcer, may cause severe pain, so eat soft foods like idly, upma, and dhokla that are easier to chew, and are bland, until the ulcer heals.
  • Stress may cause sleeplessness and may increase the production excitatory neurotransmitters in your brain. These hormones in turn increase the acid production in the stomach and damage the mucosal lining resulting in mouth ulcers. So, reduce your stress levels by following relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, or exercise.
